Duplex scanning is achieved via dual contact image sensor (CIS) units that can scan at speeds of up to 24ppm single sided and 48 ipm two sided. The Brother ADS-2500W can handle a range of paper sizes ranging from 2" to 8.5" in width and lengths from 2.76" up to 34" for a single sheet. It even comes with two plastic carrier sheets one for odd sized documents and one for cards like licenses or business cards. It will handle paper thicknesses between 14lb to 53lb for a single page and 14lb to 29lb for multi-page scanning, has a 50 page automatic document feeder (ADF) and has a daily duty cycle of up to 1,500 scans per day at resolutions up to 600 x 600 dpi (optical) 1200 x 1200 dpi (interpolated). This makes it an ideal scanner for large volumes of documents and smaller items. It also performs well when scanning color pages, for example out of a magazine, without Moire or other weird patterns showing up and the dot structure of halftones is pleasingly muted.
